Avooma Airlines, originally founded as Lakeland Airways in 2020, has announced plans to launch operations from Carlisle Lake District Airport. In 2021, the airline revealed its intention to connect key cities across the UK and Ireland, with future expansions into continental Europe.
In 2025, Avooma Airlines entered an exclusive collaboration with US-based manufacturer The AirCraft Company to introduce a fleet of 30- and 52-seat hybrid-electric aircraft for regional routes.
Named The Pangea, the aircraft operates on an electric-first, hybrid-on-demand system, allowing for travel up to 400 km on battery power alone and up to 800 km using a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrogen-compatible range extender. This innovation would enable the airlines to serve communities across the UK, Ireland, and Key European business hubs with zero CO2 emissions, yay!
